Better ask what is good tonight

Took my family to Howard's awhile back--I love scallops and found a dish containing it on the menu. The waitress, who was unusually assertive, questioned my choice. I should have taken the hint; it was a scallop-egg scramble that was ultimately disappointing. The others in my party found their meals to be okay but unmemorable. The white-tablecloth atmosphere was a welcome alternative to the many joints in that area, but, considering the prices, we haven't had any urge to return.

Howard & Maria Cheng are the owners of Howards and are usually there tending bar or waiting on tables, Howard even cooks now and then. The food is consistently good and the service is fast and friendly, new decor a few years ago have added ambience to the dining room. Angela and her husband Kevin are waitress and bar tender/cook and again friendly good service. I highly recommend a trip to Clearlake and a lunch or dinner at Howard's Grotto. Stephanie
