In Mexico, you get a lot of vegetable choices in restaurants. It's not all rice and beans.

The Cactus Grill gives you some excellent healthy choices that include fresh, in-season vegetables. Try a portabello mushroom quesadilla, or one with asparagus in the spring.

The salsa bar is fresh and fantastic. Everything we've ever eaten here has been great! (I wish they'd open another restaurant at the north end of the lake.)

My husband is always in search of the "Mexican Holy Grail" – that one Mexican restaurant that can replace his beloved haunt, La Hicora, he would frequent in Isla Vista during his UCSB days. He thinks he's found it at the Cactus Grill! Tasty food, generous portions, reasonable prices. If we're in the mood for the best Mexican food in Lake County, we make the choice to drive from Lakeport to the Cactus Grill....and, don't forget to visit their booth at the Clearlake Farmers' Market!

Clearlake has a number of Mexican restaurants, but the Cactus Grill stands out. The dining room is small, but the outdoor patio is inviting in good weather and a great place to chat while watching activity on Lakeshore Drive. The decor is attractive--brightly contrasting colors of paint, flowers and redwood chips. But the food is the reason to go here--there is a salsa cart where you can select your choice of delicious salsas to munch with the chips while you wait for your food to be prepared. The main dishes will not disappoint either. Even my wife, who does not care for Mexican food, suggested we return.
