of 2Goombas Deli - 8/4/2010
Clean, cute, cozy - the shop, though small, reminds me of the Italian deli's of my youth. Cooking is home style and generous portions. On Fridays, you get a spaghetti feast and the opportunity to listen to the best of local music. Who says there's nothing to do in Lake County?!

of Angelina's Bakery & Espresso - 7/21/2010
My husband and I could have gone anywhere for coffee this morning and we picked Angelina's. Why? We wanted their yummy cinnamon buns to go with an excellent cup of coffee. And, we knew we'd probably run into a friend or two to shoot the breeze with.

of Blue Wing Saloon & Cafe - 9/19/2010
I love the Blue Wing for Sunday Brunch! I had "Fish Tacos" that were to die for. My dining buddies had "Eggs Benedict", and "New York Steak and Eggs" that looked equally good. My singing group was the entertainment, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - and the crowd enjoyed us, too. What a perfect place to spend a Sunday in the summertime!

of Cactus Grill - 8/10/2010
My husband is always in search of the "Mexican Holy Grail" – that one Mexican restaurant that can replace his beloved haunt, La Hicora, he would frequent in Isla Vista during his UCSB days. He thinks he's found it at the Cactus Grill! Tasty food, generous portions, reasonable prices. If we're in the mood for the best Mexican food in Lake County, we make the choice to drive from Lakeport to the Cactus Grill....and, don't forget to visit their booth at the Clearlake Farmers' Market!

of Disney's Water Sports - 6/28/2010
I'm so glad there's a place close by to rent boats from! Although we had to travel down the street to collect our boat, the service was friendly and prompt and we were on the lake in no time! We rented a two-seat kayak – it was a "sit on top" style that's very stable for any ability level. You really can't enjoy Lake County unless you get on Clear Lake. Disney's Water Sports provides a way to do this that won't consume your entire vacation budget.

of Dr. Doug Reams Family Dentistry, Inc. - 9/23/2010
9/23/10
My teeth are a pain in the a** to clean. Dr. Doug is a Master!! He was able to take all the stains and tartar off and left me with a beautifully clean set of teeth. It's amazing how a clean mouth can make you feel like a million dollars – good for your health AND good for your soul! Not only did Dr. Doug do a fantastic job, my visit was actually fun! He's got a warm, open office layout that makes you feel like you're in the forest. He and his staff are friendly and competent. I've been looking for a good Lake County dentist for some time now. I've finally found one I'm happy with!
12/7/10
Because of the good advice Dr. Reams gave me plus the great cleaning back in September, my teeth are still tartar free!! This is amazing, because I usually have to go for a clean every 3 months because of my genetics. A miracle!! Thanks, Dr. D!

of Express Lube & Oil - 2/22/2011
Fast & clean oil change - I barely had enough time to return my library book across the street

of Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast Resort - 6/29/2011
We've had many a business meeting in the Breakfast room at the Featherbed and have always been treated like royalty. With the recent remodel, the property has become even more welcoming to match the generous hearts of its owners, Tony and Peggy Barthel. I'm looking forward to using a gift certificate that a friend bought for me to stay there, and I've got my eye on the caboose near the lake for my visit!

of Grocery Outlet - 8/11/2010
It's amazing all the high quality stuff you can get here at a fraction of the cost the big box supermarkets charge! I only just started shopping here because I didn't think they had enough stuff for vegetarians. Boy, was I wrong! I bought a huge bag of food for $11! Try doing that at Safeway!
Shopping here is like going to a birthday party and sticking your hands into the grab bag - you never know what you're going to find, but you're sure it will be fun and something you like!

of Howling Dog Cafe - 5/31/2011
What a pleasant surprise! Howling Dog was the only coffee shop open for espresso in all of Lakeport on Memorial Day. We were greeted with a pleasant atmosphere and a big welcome from owner Denise. To top it off, the coffee was excellent, and the sandwich choices extensive.
The hallmark of a good restaurant is the cleanliness of the bathrooms, as it shows a concern for the customer and a care to detail. The ones at Howling Dog were spotless!
We're looking forward to returning to the Howling Dog Cafe soon for more than just a coffee.

of IMPACT Training - 7/23/2010
This is a hidden gem. We needed a place to hold a training seminar, and found this new facility. The room is clean and quiet, the chairs comfy, the air conditioning effective. There's even white boards on the wall and an Epson projector you can use with your laptop for Powerpoint presentations (and a private bathroom!) The room looks like it will hold around 40 people, but that's a rough guess - you'll have to call Don.
Don is also planning on adding a microwave and refrigerator, so you can even have a full day meeting and warm your lunch....
If you're looking for a place to hold a meeting or one day conference in Clearlake, this is a great option!

of Jimmy's Deli & Taqueria - 7/7/2010
I visited Jimmy's during a weekday lunch period. Even though it was fairly crowded, we had our food in about 5 minutes. The Falafel was tasty, as was the Super Veggie sandwich, though the portions were a bit small for the price (compared to Subway or a Safeway deli sandwich). It would be nice if there were more room to dine-in.

of JT Auto Glass - 11/19/2010
My husband and I needed our car's windshield replaced fast! I filed the claim at 11pm, and by 8am the next day the appointment was made! Jim called and let us know he was running a bit late (how courteous!) He took no time at all to expertly and neatly repair our Prius right in our own garage. After he was finished, Jim gave us clear instructions as to what to do and not to do with the car for the next day as well as informed us of the warranty that goes along with the repair.
I (and my car) felt well cared for. Thank you, JT Auto Glass!

of Kour Thai - 7/26/2010
We usually have problems eating out in Lake County because many restaurants only pay lip-service to providing for vegetarians. Not so Kour Thai! They bent over backwards to accommodate us, and even created dishes that weren't on the menu. All of our dishes were fresh and flavorful - the vegetables were crisp, although the pad thai noodles could have been a bit firmer. We even had a birthday girl in our party, and I believe (because I didn't pay the bill) they gave us all free (and yummy!) coconut ice cream!
I'm always looking for good restaurants right on the lake, and I'm glad to have found this one. Now, when they're done with the redecorating, I'll raise my review up a star --- I can't wait to be able to sit out on the back deck and enjoy a Lake County sunset over the lake while enjoying a fine meal at Kour Thai!

of Lakeport Tire & Auto Service - 7/7/2010
I always know I'll get ONLY the work I need done on my car at a great price. The service staff are knowledgeable and work with me to decide the best course of action for my car. Work is done in a timely manner. My "wish list"? Wireless internet access in the customer waiting area so I could work while I wait....By the way, I LOVE my Lakeport Tire and Auto stainless steel water bottle given to me as a part of your July promotion!
UPDATED August 10, 2010:
I just had the HID headlights for my Prius replaced. Toyota dealers charge $700 for this work!! I bought my bulbs online ($90 for the pair), then brought them to LTA to fit. LTA did it in about 1 hour and charged me $75. Total cost: $165. Am I happy? You bet! Will I take my Prius here first before the Toyota dealer? Every time!

of Lakeside Lanes and Family Fun Center - 5/26/2011
I couldn't believe the transformation of this bowling alley! There's a HUGE laser tag area, tons of the best arcade games, great bowling and fabulous food. There's something for everyone at Lakeside Lanes, so you can't say "There's nothing to do in Lake County".

of Lu Lu's Ice Cream & Desserts - 6/9/2010
I am an "Ice-creamophile." I'm pretty particular about the stuff I eat, and have a very discerning palate. When I'm looking to satisfy my craving, I think of LuLu's. Great selection, fantastic quality, excellent and friendly service. They've even started holding events on Friday nights!
A fantastic and reasonably priced place to go when you're looking for something to do (and for something to satisfy your sweet tooth!)

of Main Street Bakery - 8/9/2010
You'll have to travel pretty far to get bread a good as Main Street Bakery! We are in LOVE with their "ciabatta" and "great bread" - the flavors and textures rival the best bakeries in much larger metropolitan areas.
If you can't get to Kelseyville, Main Street Bakery distributes to a variety of location around the county. We especially look forward to their breads and baked goods at the Lake County Farmers Market at Steele Winery on Saturday mornings and in Clearlake on Friday eves during the spring summer. Prices are reasonable.

of North Bay Merchant Services - 8/4/2010
North Bay worked very closely with the Shop, Stay & Play management team to come up with just the right merchant services for the project.
Joe hand-held us through every step of the process, and spoke directly on our behalf to the service providers continuously. He helped Shop, Stay & Play install systems that ensure Shop, Stay & Play businesses get paid in a timely fashion, and the Lake County Chamber can run the e-commerce portion of the Shop, Stay & Play site in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
You don't get this kind of help with a non-local solution like Paypal or Costco. I'm glad we used a local business like North Bay Merchant Services to provide this mission-critical system to the Shop, Stay & Play community.

of Puesta del Sol - 10/13/2010
We were looking for a place to eat on a Sunday evening - ever try to do that in Lake County? Well, this place was open and were we pleased! Their hours are fantastic - open from 9am-9pm Sundays through Thursdays, 9am-10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The decor is cute - the inside is a bit dark, but tastefully lighted. And, there's a very pleasant outdoor patio area.
I had a pork tamale and a fish taco that were very good - clean taste with just the right spice. I was a bit disappointed they used lard in the re-fried beans and chicken stock in the rice - this made it difficult for the vegetarians in our party. Otherwise, it was a great dining experience. I'll be back!

of Renee's Cafe - 9/18/2010
Our rowing club usually goes to Renee's after our row on Saturday mornings. We sit outside on the picnic benches (glad there's somewhere shaded to sit outside, even if it is in the parking lot). Breakfast is OK - the usual fare served unceremoniously on a standard white plate. The service is usually pretty fast and friendly. It's a fun place to go for that 60's dining experience.

of Shoreline Coffee Shop - 7/8/2010
You'll feel like you're stepping back 40 years walking into this good, ole' fashioned American diner. Friendly, personal and quick service; down home cooking; clean and comfortable.
There was a pleasant buzz of early morning diners coming and going as I ate my egg, 2 links of sausage and English muffin that was comforting as well as entertaining. I don't eat breakfast out very much - is $4.50 what you'd expect to pay for the meal I ate?

of Soper-Reese Theatre - 5/24/2010
My vocal quartet recently had the pleasure of performing at the Soper Reese. What a FIRST CLASS VENUE! The sound system was perhaps the best I've ever experienced - a real dream for performers and audience alike! The support from the volunteer staff was flawless. We are truly blessed to have such a facility in our community!

of Tacos El Rey - 8/30/2010
Don't let the name fool you. Besides Mexican, they've got a great selection of Indian dishes on the menu. I had saag paneer, yellow lentil soup and nan. All were cooked fresh, with distinct flavors that delighted my palate. The decor is what you'd expect in a place that offers honest and wonderful Indian home cooking. I'll be going back again (and again.)
(And their Mexican food is pretty good, too!)

of Tuscan Village - 8/4/2010
If you're thinking of holding an event with a twist, consider the Tuscan Village - a replica Italian village right in down town Lower Lake. At the very top of the village is an amphitheater with an amazing view of the Lake County countryside. I'd love to see some Shakespeare or works by more modern playwrights performed here!

of Verizon Wireless - 1/14/2011
I couldn't believe the expert help I received when upgrading my phone at our local Lakeport Verizon shop. The sales associate, Leiloni, expertly handled my questions and capably pointed me toward the absolutely correct phone and plan for my needs. She was knowledgeable and helpful, and I never felt oversold.
I speak from my own experience in my previous incarnation as a sales executive with IBM – Leiloni's natural skills in technical selling will assure her of a successful career anywhere she chooses to go (even in the most competitive environments.) Go to Verizon now and make sure she helps you with your cell phone needs before it's too late!

of Woody's Cafe - Grill - Pub - 9/17/2010
Who would ever think of going to Kelseyville Lumber for breakfast? I heard about Woody's and though I would give it a try, as I was looking for a place to hold a quiet business meeting midway between Clearlake and Lakeport. This was the perfect place: The acoustics made conversation easy, the food was good and reasonably priced, the room was spacious and well lit with a welcoming atmosphere. Woody's is well suited for accommodating groups....I'll be back!
